In today's society it is nearly impossible not to be influenced by social media. The things you post online and the things you see other people posting have more of an influence than we think sometimes. When I go on social media I notice a million things just in one picture. Blake Lively, for example, is a huge influence on me. I admire her, so I notice things that she does. I test out hairstyles and clothing styles because I see how they look on her and have a desire to look like that. It's the same way with models and other celebrities. We either intentionally or unintentionally notice things that we end up doing or want. All of that wouldn't be possible without social media. We have the ability to connect with anyone we want to around the world at the touch of a button. I always talk about wanting to travel and see the world, but I know that part of the reason for that is because of pictures I see and stories I read about amazing experiences other people have had. I know I have always wanted to see the world and get away for a while, but I think because of social media that desire is stronger than it would be without the influence of the media. I have traveled in the United states to places like Arizona, Las Vegas, Colorado, New York, Washington, and more. Most recently I traveled to South Dakota which is one of my favorite places in the world. I was thrown into a whole new culture and experience living on a Native American reservation for two weeks. I experiences more in those two weeks working alongside the Lakota people, experiencing their way of life, and seeing their land than anything I have ever done before. In many ways social media shapes how we see the world and other people, but I think to really understand other cultures is to experience it for yourself. On social media, people have the ability to make you want to try out new hairstyles, buy new clothes, or go on amazing trips, but you won't know yourself and what you really want until you try things out on your own and share your own experiences. Who knows, maybe one day I could be the one to influence someone to travel the world like I want to.
